REUNION 2022
The Siddhartha Medical College Alumni Association of North America (SMCANA) continued its tradition with a biennial reunion in 2022, held in Dallas, Texas. This event marked our most attended gathering, bringing together approximately 70 alumni from across North America.
Spanning the weekend of September 3rd and 4th, the reunion was a combined celebration with alumni from Siddhartha, Guntur and Rangaraya Medical Colleges, thereby creating a festive spirit. Hosted at the Westin Park Central, the event was organized by Team Dallas, who had done an excellent job in making this reunion memorable.
The choice of venues was amazing. Circle Ranch, showcased Texan culture with a Texan ranch atmosphere, cultural activities, rodeo shows, photo sessions with longhorns and great refreshments. The main event at Westin Dallas was accentuated by the opening alumni fashion show, a traditional Veena concert, and professional performances, alongside honoring alumni for their service contributions. The morning agenda was planned to give the attendees a diverse experience and included wellness, educational and organizational activities. Fitness enthusiasts woke up to a yoga session with a certified Yoga trainer, further followed by a sumptuous breakfast. A golf tournament was planned for the enthusiasts. Excellent CME activities followed and a lavish lunch.
Significantly, the SMCANA general body meeting was a highlight, providing a platform for open discussion and updates. Esteemed guest, faculty Dr. Paladugu Rambabu, was felicitated, offering valuable advice for the alumni organization’s progress. Dr. Srinivasa Rao Surapaneni, chairman of SMCA, who was also felicitated, updated attendees on upcoming projects in India. The event also marked the inauguration of the first SMCANA souvenir, a symbol of the association’s rich legacy and future aspirations. It included beautifully printed messages from the faculty to the alumni and inspiring articles from several projects by alumni, a database of names and the Title bearers’ names and introduction.
This reunion not only celebrated our past but also set the stage for future endeavors. The attendance by Siddhartha Medical College alumni in great numbers made this a grand success, reinforcing a foundation for dedication to the vision and mission of SMCANA and future unity and camaraderie of alumni.
